Maldives National Badminton team achieves another milestone as the team gets ready to depart for the Commonwealth games 2022 edition in Birmingham.
For the first time, the national badminton team selection was done with the inclusion of players from 3 Academies that worked closely with the Badminton Association of Maldives.
The team departing consists of 6 players and 2 officials. Out of the 6 players, 2 were selected from the players who were proposed by the academies.
Badminton Association of Maldives executive committee members had a brief meeting with the team members to wish them all the best in the upcoming tournament.
The Commonwealth Games was officially opened on 28th July 2022, the events began with more than 5,000 athletes representing 72 nations and territories competing in 280 medal events. The games will go until 8th August.
National Badminton team will compete in the Mixed team event as well as the individual events. In the team event Maldives will play against Scotland, Canada and Uganda.
Mohamed Ajfan Rasheed the Captain of team Maldives will lead the way in commonwealth games 2022.
